BEACON, N.Y. -- Josephine “Jo” C. Novotny, of Beacon died Saturday, Nov. 12. She was 78.
She was born March 18, 1938, in Beacon the daughter of the late William and Mary McKenna Holland.
She retired after 30 years working in the Beacon City School District. She was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church, a member of the Tioronda Garden Club and, in her younger years, the Beacon Junior Social League.
She is survived by her children, Judy Novotny and her husband Donald Rich, William Novotny, Janet Ganzer and her husband Troy and Michael Novotny and his wife Molly; and grandchildren, Kyle Novotny, Nicholas Ganzer, Megan Ganzer, Maddie Novotny and Annie Novotny.
The family will receive their friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Halvey Funeral Home Inc., 24 Willow St., Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow St., Beacon. Burial will follow at St. Joachim Cemetery in Beacon.
Memorial donations in memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
